Ranbir Kapoor is a member of the Kapoor family, the most prominent family in the Indian Hindi film industry. Prithviraj Kapoor was the first of this family to act in the early days of Hindi films. Prithviraj Kapoor's three sons, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, and Shammi Kapoor, reached new heights in the Hindi film industry. Raj Kapoor's three sons, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor, also acted in numerous Bollywood films and became renowned actors. Rishi Kapoor married film actress Neetu Singh. They later had a son and a daughter, This son's name is Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor was born on September 28, 1982. He had always aspired to become an actor. He worked as an assistant director on several films to learn the filmmaking process. At the age of 24, he landed the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Saawariya. His first film, Saawariya, was released in 2007, when Ranbir was 25 years old. Although the film failed at the box office, it marked the beginning of Ranbir's career.
